#256 :
yesterday blew big winds, the wind is super big.
my mum was at home washing the windows, & she plucked down the curtains.
my ahma went to wash it & hanged it on a bamboo pole & put it outside the window.
although the superbig curtain was fastened by many giap-giaps,
ahma gave a super big scream from th kitchen soon after she hanged it out.
"Xi lor! Ber lorku lor!" (Die lor, fly down already!)
i ran to the kitchen, and saw the bamboo pole still outside the window, but the curtains are gone.
i looked down, and saw our curtains on a big & tall roof.
ahma told me to bring the ladder, some strings&cloth and three bamboo poles down.
we cant reach even if we climb up the ladder,
th only way out is to climb up a smaller roof, connect two bamboo poles together and sweep it down.
i told ahma, "wa pa shang qu lar,"
ahma shook her head and told me to find a cleaner around for help.
she was too concerned for my safety & scared i would fall down the roof.
so we went hunting for a cleaner & spotted one sweeping the garden nearby.
ahma told me to go and talk to him in "angmoh", but he too, dun understand english.
so i spent five minutes talking in broken english and 比手划脚-ing.
& he nodded his head and followed me to the roofs.
i pointed at the curtain which was right in the middle of the top roof.
he didnt give me a shocked look, as what i have expected.
he smiled.
he didnt refuse and say "sure cannot",
he took off his slippers and climbed up the ladder to reach for the lower roof.
even with a ladder, it wasnt tall enuff for him to climb up the roof.
he watched the lower roof for awhile and he paused for awhile.
then suddenly,
he pushed his hands on the lower roof and forced his way up.
he was on the lower roof now.
i passed him two poles and some strings.
he tied both and tried to sweep the curtain down.
he cant see, but he tried randomly.
the poles fell apart,
and he tied it again.
the poles fell again,
and he tied again.
again and again, after 15 minutes, the curtains finally fell onto ground.
he stepped down on the ladder and wore back his shoes.
he untangled the neat and complex knot he tied.
ahma gave him some money and keep saying "thank you"
i thanked him and went home.
ahma's friend walked past and commented that these cleaners helped many people, including climbing and sweeping things down.
now i got to appreciate these cleaners who have been appearing but of no notice by the poeple.
they clean our countries, they help people, unlike typical singaporeans who will shake their head and say "no hope lar, give up lar, cannot reach one,"
he risked his life, he didnot refuse, he didnot give up,
this is what singaporeans like us have to learn from them.
